BACKGROUND

My name is Petro Limbe Buyaga, and l was born in Bariadi district found in Simiyu Tanzania. My father's name is Limbe Buyaga Makingi and my mother's name is Cesilia Baluhya. Our family is a single mother family, consisting of four children, where I'm the second born in our family. Our mother is a peasant. Not only that, but she also used to sell tea and bites around the streets in order to earn some money for supporting our family, since our mother is responsible for everything concerning our studies and basic needs. My education background consists of studying at primary level at Ngashanda primary school, and then I was at secondary level at Mahaha secondary school in Bariadi Simiyu. Then, I joined Nsumba secondary school for advanced level studies, and for advanced level, I joined Mbeya University of Science and Technology.

I chose to study civil engineering because as we know, civil engineering is fun. I like this career because through becoming a civil engineer, I will be able to help my community to solve different problems found in our society, such as poor built houses. I will use this professional career of civil engineering to advice my community members in different matters. For example, l can educate my society on the effects of constructing their homes along water bodies like lakes, rivers, and dams. To construct homes along water bodies, may result in pollution and destruction of water sources. Also, when floods occur, there is loss of life and loss of properties. Not only that, but also through becoming a civil engineering technician, I can cooperate with the environment engineers to find better means of harvesting construction materials like sands, gravel and woods, without destroying the environment. Also, through this career and the knowledge that I will gain, I can provide education to workers on construction sites, about the importance of wearing protective equipments. My dream job is to become a civil engineer. Civil engineering is a career which involves planning and construction of different structures, including buildings, roads, bridges and water reservoirs. Hence, through this professional career, I can contribute to improvements in my community's living standards. Also, I will be able to develop my country as I assist my community members when they are in the process of constructing their new homes. It's always better to communicate and take help from civil engineers, environment engineers and architectures in that process. Through the help of professional people, they will be able to construct better homes and improve their life standards.

INTERESTS

Apart from my studies, I like to do physical body exercises and to play basketball - mostly during the evening. But, during the weekend, I used to assist in small constructions activities. Sometimes, I visit different construction sites in order to learn more about construction technology. During my visits to different sites, I talk to the employees about the importances of wearing personal protective equipments that are used to diminish accident's on construction sites.
