BACKGROUND
I am Namutebi Maria Hellen, and I come from a family in which my parents are separated my parents since I was one year old. I have ten siblings; four from my mother's side, and six from father's side, in which I am the first born to both sides. I grew up with my grandmother, and she is also the one who has been paying my school fees through doing different activities like farming and washing clothes in the village. My father is selling plastic shoes for ladies, and other simple plastic things like toys for kids, in order to earn his living. My mother is doing simple cultivation in order to earn her living.
WHY
Working in health facilities has been my dream since childhood, and I have grown up chasing that dream. But, on top of that, my grandmother also happened to be in an accident, where she was rushed to the hospital as she needed oxygen. Unfortunately, the oxygen concentrators in that hospital were not working and they had to rush her into another hospital, and she almost died in the process. Since then, my passion for becoming a biomedical engineer grew, and I want to ensure that when I finish my degree, I will be able to save people's lives by ensuring proper functioning of the machines. My dream job is to be an expert in installation, repairing, maintaining, and servicing all different medical equipment and devices.
INTERESTS
Besides my studies, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, doing charitable work, interacting with friends and playing football.
